This video is an example of generalization of the boundary. In this case I am using the regular boundary (raised mat) but have taken it on the road to a parking lot to generalize location. I am also generalizing my physical positioning.
Generalization of all cues is essential so that your dog understands that it doesn’t matter where they are or your positioning, when cue’d to be a behaviour their response should always be the same. This does not happen over night so take time to get out and about, remembering that you are increasing distractions so in addition to building boundaries we are also working on optimism, novelty, disengement and engagement concepts too!
