Demo – Action Prompting

In this video you will see Sila’s action prompting behaviour, which is to stare at me, put his head on the chair arm and whine/talk a little bit. This doesn’t happen often, and when it does happen it is typically later in the afternoon when he is hungry. My alternate behaviour is usually to send him to a boundary and then reward him there. So he is getting what he wants (food) and I am getting what I want, calmness in the house and no prompting…win-win!

If the prompting happens and I am able to play a few games but don’t want arousal to go up, I might choose duration sit or down or stretching on bolster, games that are more calming.

Remember to work with the dog in front of you and use alternative behaviours that will work for you in your household. Have fun!
