Similar to the sit, using a food lure you can quite easily teach a beautiful accordian down and have it on cue in a few days if you practice multiple times a day – remember short sessions of under 3 minutes! To avoid confusion, I recommend teaching a down with the dog starting in a stand position rather than a sit, otherwise you may create a down behaviour that involves having to sit first.

Don’t worry if you have to take longer and shape it, it is well worth spending the time now to build an awesome down behaviour.

Criteria
Dog will lie down when cued with elbows on the ground.
