Similar to the bar jump, hoop jumps use explosive power and strengthens the front and hind end of a dog.
If your dog has never seen a hola hoop before take time to introduce them to it by just placing it on the floor and letting them sniff it. Note that if the hola hoop has beads inside, be sure to introduce that noise to your dog as well before proceeding to the jumping.
As with the bar jump, start with the hoop held low – touching the ground is a great place to start to ensure your dog is comfortable going through it. Gradually lift it off the ground until you dog is actually jumping (not walking) through the hoop. As with the bar jump be sure that the ground surface provides good traction to avoid potential slipping and injury.
For your evaluation video the dog must jump through the hoop (not walk).
